Why are you recommending an upgrade?

FenceAlarm (first generation) uses 2G mobile networks. Across Europe, 2G is being phased out gradually, and when 2G is switched off in your region, your FenceAlarm may eventually stop working as intended.

 

Is this urgent?

For most customers, it’s not urgent today because the phase-out happens at different times depending on country and mobile operator. However, we recommend upgrading in good time to avoid service interruption.

 

Do I need to do anything right now?

No need to panic. We recommend planning your upgrade ahead of time so you are not affected when 2G is discontinued in your area.

 

When will my FenceAlarm stop working?

The timing depends on your country, operator, and local shutdown plans, so we cannot provide one exact date for all customers.

 

Can I upgrade my original FenceAlarm to FenceAlarm2?

No. The original FenceAlarm cannot be upgraded to FenceAlarm2 because the hardware design is significantly different.

 

Can I use FenceAlarm and FenceAlarm2 in parallel?

Yes, in many cases you can run them in parallel while 2G is still available in your area, which makes the transition easier.

 

What happens if I don’t upgrade?

Your FenceAlarm will continue working until 2G is switched off locally. After that, there is a risk of service interruption (e.g., the device may lose connectivity and stop updating or sending alarms).

 

Will I notice when 2G disappears?

When 2G is switched off, the device may lose connection, stop updating, or stop sending alarms. Upgrading beforehand helps avoid this.

 

Will my existing subscription transfer to FenceAlarm2?

No. Subscriptions are linked to the specific device they were purchased for and will not be transferred to a new device.

 

What happens to a subscription I already paid for?

Your subscription continues to run on the device it was purchased for. If you do not want it to renew automatically, please cancel it before renewal.

 

Can I keep the same app account when switching devices?

Yes. You can keep the same account and simply add the new device in the app.

 

Does FenceAlarm2 work across Europe?

FenceAlarm2 uses LTE-M (4G/5G IoT) with roaming. Supported countries are listed here:
